Marcos Backs Amazon’s $5B Cloud Infra Investment in the Philippines

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has formally pledged government support for a massive digital infrastructure proposal by Amazon Web Services (AWS) that could bring up to $5 billion (over ₱300 billion) into the country over the next 15 years. During a courtesy call at Malacañang on July 8, 2026, the President met with AWS delegation led by Quint Simon (VP for Public Policy in Asia-Pacific) and DICT Secretary Henry Aguda to map out the company's localized expansion strategy.
